Our Story
We are Paul and John, we have always connected over plants. Our relationship first grew its roots in 2017. Paul was graduating high school and needed a mentor to help him navigate the world of entrepreneurship. John was 20 years into teaching high school art and needed a new adventure that didn’t involve grading homework.
After years of working on all kinds of business projects, we reunited to grow roots in a market that combines our love for entrepreneurship with our love for plants.
Spike & Bloom’s philosophy grew out of the love to go down the path less traveled, and the courage to do so.

We proudly use only the best ingredients sourced from the U.S. The cactus soils on the market today are mostly topsoil and peat moss with a cactus label thrown on the bag. These types of “potting mixes” are not only bad cactus soils, they actively harm your cacti with root rot and toxins.
